OUTDOOR ARTIFICIAL FLOWER GARDEN

Here’s an awesome project that can be a lot of fun and inspire your creativity.  It’s an outdoor artificial flower garden.  You don’t need a green thumb and it doesn’t take as much time or maintenance as a real flower garden.  This project is also something that can include the entire family.  So, if you want to have that gorgeous focal point in the yard, but don’t have a lot of time to devote, this is the solution.  They are so much easier to maintain and they always look stunning, despite any weather.  Artificial flowers have made great strides in quality and appearance in recent years, so they can look realistic, vibrant and colorful for a much longer time.

  1. Select a location for your artificial flower garden.  Consider factors like visibility, accessibility and curbside appeal.

This is the space I chose in my yard.  That’s my best friend pulling some weeds.

  1. Plan the layout for your garden.  Draw a rough plan of the size and shape of your flower garden.  Include trees, shrubs, water features like a fountain, pathways and decorative items that will be incorporated in the garden.
  2. Choose artificial flowers.  Select high-quality artificial flowers tempered for outdoor use.  The colors and types of flowers will be important, as the colors should complement each other and your existing outdoor decor.  Consider multiple types, sizes and colors of flowers in your design to create a vivid and realistic garden.  These and other outdoor artificial flowers can be found at https://amzn.to/4bTV5sm.

  1. Prepare the ground by clearing the area of debris, weeds and anything that could affect the aesthetics of your flower garden.  If the area has a lot of weeds, you can also put down a weed barrier fabric then put soil on top.  You can also cover that soil with rocks or some other ground cover for that extra special touch.  Rocks, regardless of size, can serve as impressive landscaping.

We put down a weed barrier and soil years ago, so we were able to skip that step.  We pulled  all the weeds pulled then put down more rock.  Now it’s ready for the flowers.

  1. Install flower beds.  If you’re using raised flower beds, assemble them as shown in your layout plan.  Make sure they are level and secure.
  2. Plant artificial flowers in the garden, arranging them by mixing types, colors and varying heights for a more realistic look.  Some stems are very long, cut off access so the lowest leaves under the flower are just a touch above the ground level.  You can also bend the stems to slide underneath to help them remain upright.

I laid rock down so I could push them against the bottom of the flower to add stability. It must be done carefully so you don’t create bare spots where rocks should be laid.

My husband, Ray, bought this tranquility fountain for me.  It was a nice touch for the garden.  I put darker colored rocks around it to give the flower garden a “layered” look.

  1. Add greenery and incorporate it into the garden to compliment the area and enhance the realism.  You can use bushes, grasses and foliage to plant alongside paths. See more at https://amzn.to/46aoZY1.

  1. Include decorative elements, for example, rocks, pebbles, statues or other garden ornaments.  They add character and visual appeal to the space.  Take a look at https://amzn.to/3Y9puQd

  1. Consider lighting if you want to enjoy your artificial flower garden at night.  There are different lights that can be used, for instance, solar-powered lights, string lights etc.  These give off an enchanting atmosphere and can also highlight certain features.  See these and more at https://amzn.to/3S8yoJN.

  1. Maintain and clean your flowers and greenery regularly to keep up the fresh and vibrant appearance.  Remove dust and debris and check for any signs of wear or damage that may need to be replaced or repaired.

Following these steps can lead to your creation of a gorgeous, low maintenance outdoor artificial flower garden that adds a variety of hues and charisma to your outdoor area.

Keep your garden enchanting by regularly dusting, washing, and spray cleaning.

For my garden, I mainly depend on nature’s cleaner, rain.  It generally washes off dust and dirt just fine.  During droughts, I use the hose to spray them off gently.

One of the biggest advantages of an artificial flower garden is the minimal maintenance required. However, it’s still important to keep it clean. Occasionally dust the flowers and rinse them with water to remove any dirt or grime. Check for any loose flowers or plants and secure them as needed.  I find that rain takes care of the cleaning for the most part.  After it rains, is when I check for flowers that need to be repaired or replaced.

The primary benefits of artificial flower gardens are low maintenance, durability, non-allergenic, and quite cost effective in the long run.  I’ve been using these flowers for 4 years now.  This year is the first time I removed them to do some serious clean-up of weeds and what-not.

Most importantly, tune into your creativity and do your garden however you wish. Let it reflect your personality and preferences. Creating an outdoor artificial garden can be a rewarding project that adds beauty and enchantment to your outdoor area, while giving you that priceless feeling of accomplishment.

For the last 3 years, I only used blue, purple and pink flowers and it looked beautiful.  This year I decided to add a little more color with some yellow, red and orange flowers as well.  I want them to look as natural as possible, so I don’t put them in a specific pattern, besides, using a pattern limits my creative process.  I do it on the fly as I see fit, then I look at it and make any changes I may want.  I might add a few more flowers and bushes.

Of course, real flowers are nature’s beauty, but artificial flowers and plants can be absolutely spectacular with a little time and imagination.  Don’t limit yourself, express yourself and have fun with it.  (#NoRules)  Be sure to take before and after pictures of your outdoor artificial flower garden.  We’d love to see them!
